NM Department of Workforce Solutions
The legislature passed House Bill 1280 to improve the effectiveness of the workforce service and delivery system. The bill combines all functions and staff of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Workforce Training & Development with all functions and staff of the New Mexico Department of Labor and creates a brand new government agency called the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions. All Office of Workforce Training & Development and New Mexico Department of Labor employees will work for this new department effective July 1, 2007.
Business.gov
Business.gov is the U.S. Government's official website for small businesses. Business.gov provides access to Federal, state, and local information that helps business owners successfully start and operate while staying compliant with laws and regulations.
New Mexico Department of Veterans' Services
The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services (NMDVS) was established in 2003 to provide veterans with a cabinet-level agency to address their needs. (MORE)
John M. Garcia was appointed the department’s inaugural cabinet secretary, and has remained as the head of the department ever since.
It is because of the hard work by the NMDVS staff that New Mexico consistently ranks near the top of the list for successfully-filed VA benefits claims by states on behalf of veterans.
VA Approved Schools and Facilities
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs contracts with the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services Education and Training Division (State Approving Agency) to approve schools and facilities in N.M. for providing educational benefits through the GI Bills. The programs eligible for approval are offered by colleges, universities, vocational schools, academies, Barber Schools, On-the-Job Training and Apprenticeship Programs. The SAA is also tasked with supervising all approved programs to ensure compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations.
